Gary Marchant, Ph.D., J.D., M.P.P., is Regents’ Professor and Faculty Director of the Center for Law, Science & Innovation at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University. He is also the Clarissa Cerda Professor in Law and Technology at ASU. Professor Marchant’s research interests include the governance of emerging technologies such as genomics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, quantum technology, and blockchain. Prior to joining ASU in 1999, Professor Marchant was a partner at the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis. He is the Chair of IEEE P2863, a Recommended Practice for the Governance of AI.
